The Europe Region of World Physiotherapy held a webinar for its Member Organisations with the participation of the EU Commission (DG SANTE).
The European Health Data Space (EHDS), adopted in 2024 by the European Parliament and the Council, represents a major step towards the secure and standardized exchange of health data across the EU. Implementation will take place gradually in the coming years, with each member state being responsible for its own national rollout.
On 24 September 2025 the Advocacy & EU Working Group of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy (Europe Region) held a webinar with the European Commission on the implications for physiotherapy. Representatives of Member Organisations of the Europe Region were invited to attend.
Owe Langfeldt, European Commission's policy officer (DG SANTE), gave an overview on the key aspects of the EHDS, what it means for physiotherapy practice and the role of national associations.
In addition, the preliminary results of the recent survey on access to digital health records by physiotherapists across Europe were presented.
